I researched many places and tutors, and one name that consistently came to my attention was Aram Ortiz. His educational background immediately jumped out at me. I went to PV with full attention on working with Aram on my Spanish. I have had a a few group sessions before I had to leave PV. Aram is a consummate professional who loves teaching and never gets tired of non-Spanish people making the same mistakes. He is kind, patient, re-assuring, and helps you believe in yourself and your ability to learn Spanish! When I return, I will pursue individual tutoring with him. Aram is a fantastic Spanish teacher! The lessons themselves are engaging and include a variety of learning strategies. After every class, he sends me notes from our lesson, along with homework to reinforce what I learned. He also provides unlimited access to a couple of good Spanish language on-line programs. I am in PV, but chose to meet over Zoom since our lessons are first thing in the morning, which works well for me (though I did get the chance to meet him in person!). You become able to speak and communicate because you’re interested in the people, the culture, or the reason for learning the language to begin with. Aram not only understands this, but brings to life a way to actually learn Spanish so that you can be understood and liked by the people you’re speaking it to. He’s not dry and mechanical and is not focus on phrases you’ll never use. I can’t say enough positive things about the experience, except that if you want to learn Spanish fast and capably, this is the one who wrote I have personally experienced and also seen that works!

Experiencia fantástica: Love Aram’s teaching methodology. The focus is on learning common words and phrases in a conversational setting. As the classes continue you start developing an understanding of grammar rules and sentence structure organically. The lessons also add cultural context, which I think ultimately helps the language stick better. It’s more akin to how a child develops language. I find this a much better and natural way of teaching than mainly memorizing words and verb tenses. In a way, he’s training your mind to be receptive to learning the language continuously in new situations outside of the class setting. He also runs Spanish conversation meet ups where you can practice your lessons with others in a casual setting. Definitely recommend whether you are starting from scratch or need to further hone your language skills.
