Classes are small, around twelve people, and are available for in-person and online study. Classes are recorded and available to registered students online at no extra cost, which is a significant benefit. Materials, developed by the founder, are thorough and systematic in their approach to learning. I've been in other language classes and have a small library of materials on hand. Those from AET are about the best I have seen! My instructor, Edizon, genuinely enjoys helping students to learn and to enjoy the experience. He is remarkable in his ability to bring every student along and ensure that no one feels uncomfortable making the inevitable mistake, asking questions, or seeking further clarity. He has a quick wit and a good sense of humor, which makes every class a joy...especially in the regular "lightening round" reviews that help everyone practice what we have been taught and realize that we are actually learning. He really makes it fun to learn Spanish! This is an outstanding language school, with a first-rate learning experience; and I am a happy student there.

Experiencia fantástica: The facility handles up to 12 people, which is the right size for this type of class. The sign up process is easy and the staff is accommodating. In my opinion the most important aspect of this organization is the instructor Eddy. Eddy has great skills in teaching Spanish. Quite frankly he could teach anything and you would learn from him. I would say he is one of the best instructors I ever had.

They are highly professional, polite & helpful, but most importantly, they’ve designed their curriculum & workbooks in a fashion to enable me to actually start learning and comprehending Mexican Spanish, for the first time in my life! While it’s not always easy for me, AET offers the support & guidance required so I can advance my speaking and comprehension skills. After I finish my level 1 class w/ Eddie (a superlative teacher) I will continue onto level 2 with them, and am so grateful to them for making my move to PV more successful. First, I appreciated the deliberate and intentional progression of levels, from one through ten, which gave me confidence that I was building a solid foundation. Second, I loved the flexibility of being able to study year-round with the same class from anywhere. What I didn’t expect was just how much I would come to value and appreciate our instructor, Kayla. She truly makes the class a joy to attend. She is patient, encouraging, and kind—not to mention animated and fun. Her teaching style makes the material stick; I remember key concepts because of the creative and memorable acronyms she uses. Kayla is also attentive to pronunciation, never letting mistakes slip by, yet she corrects gently and supportively. This balance has helped me grow in confidence while improving my accuracy. Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I relocated to Puerto Vallarta about 4 month ago with a vocabulary of 3 words, Gracias and Buenos Dias. With a residency status we made up our minds that we have to learn some Spanish to be able to communicate with the local people in their language. We didn't like that people apologized to us for not speaking English. Our attitude was, we are in Mexico, we need to learn at least the basics. We are not young and learning a language is not so easy!! Our first priority was that it will be in person. We did our research, read reviews and looked into the methods of teaching and flexibility. We wanted it to be rigorous but not overwhelming. We went for a free class demonstration with Edison, who also became our teacher, and were impressed by his method, enthusiasm, and knowledge. We started our journey 2 month ago. We are still beginners and it is a long way ahead of us. But, we are amazed at times when we look back and realize how much we know by now and how much we have improved!! And the most important thing, the classes are interesting and filled with stories. I never knew that learning a new language can be fun!! We love the physical classes and the staff. And as a side note. We found out that the school contributes to charity helping less fortunate kids learn English. Thank you for your commitment to teaching and to the Vallarta community.

She is somebody who can easily help a "gringo" (who is intermediate/advanced) put it all together. Kayla gives 100% in every session. She knows the "weak spots" of a North American; both in grammar and in speaking. Seriously, check it out for yourself!

They’re great for practice in the car or even in the shower, but the moment I land in Mexico and try to use Spanish in real life, it often feels like my brain hits “reset” and I lose it. So, in true “never give up” fashion, I enrolled in a Spanish class at American English Tree here in Puerto Vallarta, and I’m so glad I did. The real magic, though, is our teacher Kayla. She is energetic, animated, and genuinely passionate about teaching. She keeps the class engaged and laughing while still pushing us to learn, and she somehow makes a full hour fly by. What I appreciate most is that Kayla gives every student attention, no matter their level. She’s patient, encouraging, and extremely professional, and you can tell she truly cares about each person improving. This has easily been one of the most enjoyable and motivating classes I’ve taken in years. When I finish this course, I’m sure I’ll be back to write another review, because teachers like Kayla deserve the recognition. Highly recommend!

Experiencia fantástica: As new residents in Mexico with intention to first and foremost to achieve some mastery of the Spanish Mexican style language--we, wife and husband, commenced looking into our options in PV. We had a couple of criterions: 1) communicative, experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly teachers who not only know how to but also are passionate about teaching, in our case adults. We met and talked to and discussed our needs with Edison and were very impressed. 2) The method must be as good and effective, encouraging and demanding but not overwhelming. A good balance between all components of a language such as grammar, pronunciation, conversational etc. The AET's learning books are amazing. The method just makes sense and is sensible for any new student of Spanish-Mexican language. 3) Small classes permitting individual attention. 4) Warm and inviting physical environment. We did our research, thoroughly, and decided that AET fulfills all the above requirements for us. Results: We are now into our second month of the beginner's program. Love our teacher and his style and sensitivity, feel at ease with the method (the handbook has become our companion, kinda bible) and very comfortable at the AET casa. We are happy with our decision and highly recommend this school.

Experiencia fantástica: I have attending AET for the past 2 months and love the way this course is taught. The textbook is wonderful and gives you elaborate explanations and lots of practice. Eddie answers all our questions sometimes over and over. Our class is small so everyone has the opportunity to practice speaking in Spanish and even in translating sentences asked of us in Spanish. I would highly recommend this school. All the staff are so friendly, helpful and always with huge smiles on their faces.

Experiencia positiva: Came here to learn Spanish and starting with basics. I committed to 3 months to get the best price. And i chose 2 days a week. 90 minutes each. I wish there was an option for 1 , 3 hour class per week. Teacher is great. It does move a little fast, so lots of studying at home to make it sink in.

Experiencia fantástica: If you want to learn Spanish in Puerto Vallarta, this is the best school with the best method and the best teacher (Katya). The classes in Plaza Caracol are convenient for those not living near the Zona Romantica location. The school teaches Spanish using a method that has made it easier to learn. For example, I just finished the first workbook and am already learning past and future verb tenses, getting comfortable using them in conversation, and having fun doing it. Ask for Katya - ella es la mejor maestra en el mundo (literalmente). I thought I was bad at learning languages and would at best become conversational in Spanish, pero ahora tengo mucha confianza. They also offer online Spanish tutoring sessions, but I always look forward to going in for our in-person class. Highly recommend, 10 stars, no notes.

My on line teacher, Katya, is very friendly and patient. When she senses that you do not understand something, she will review the material with you and give you lots of examples to assist in your comprehension. This is a good school with great teachers and I highly recommend it!

What makes her so special is how she takes her time to really connect with each student and adjust her teaching to what you need at the time. Since Kayla recently learned Spanish herself, she totally gets the struggle and explains things in a way that actually makes sense — pronunciations, memory tips, and little tricks that help it stick. I’ve had other Spanish classes before, but this is the first time I’ve felt like it’s really clicking, and that’s 100% because of Kayla. She creates a really warm and encouraging vibe in class. You never feel rushed or judged, and you can tell she genuinely wants everyone to succeed. The school itself also has a solid curriculum — lots of repetition and layering that helps you build real knowledge, not just memorize phrases. And I love that they sponsor English-speaking kids too. It’s meaningful to know that while I’m learning Spanish, I’m also supporting someone else’s future. But really, if you’re lucky enough to get Kayla as your teacher — take the class. She’s amazing.

Experiencia fantástica: I was taking Spanish with a teacher and went to La Catrina Cantina for the class for beginners. Her lesson and direction that night made me decide to go to the free lessons and I ended up staying in the class. Kayla's excitement for learning and helping others to do the same is infectious. She helps our class with understanding and is genuinely concerned with how we are progressing and if we understand the lessons. She really loves teaching and seeing the excitement in her eyes while she is teaching transfers to us (the students) making us want to perform well for her in class. I can only imagine the asset she is to your school.

Practical teaching for conversational application. We get a little bit of homework after each class which helps to keep working on the things we are learning in class. The pace feels good and I am steadily learning. Started with Eddy in level 1 and he was very helpful to introduce the language and the basics … now I’m with Kayla and she is great… building on the knowledge and she is VERY helpful to work on pronunciation as we learn new vocabulary and work more on the language. Experiencia fantástica: American Tree is a great Spanish school and community. The material is in depth and thorough - not just present tense! The teacher(Eddie) shares his passion for the Spanish language and has a very supportive staff. I highly recommend American Tree.

Experiencia fantástica: I love my Spanish classes. Eddie is one of the most brilliant teachers I’ve ever had. He is incredibly smart in both English and Spanish and there is never a question he can’t answer. He makes the classes fun but yet very educational. Would never consider anywhere else.

Experiencia fantástica: I have tried three schools in the five years I have lived in Mexico. I have learned more from Eddie in 3 months than I did in the other schools combined. He knows the language AND he knows how to teach! We also have fun!

Experiencia fantástica: I heard about American English Tree from a good friend who had already been taking classes for over a year. I am 62 and thought it would be difficult learning a new language at my age, but I was wrong. The teacher Eddie is amazing. He is from Puerto Vallarta but knows English grammar and the language as well as Spanish, which makes him understand better what it is like for us gringos to learn Spanish. He makes it so easy to understand and there is no question he can’t answer. I have been in classes for 5 months and feel like I have come light years with my Spanish. I especially love that he teaches English to Mexicans here on scholarship. I really can’t recommend this school and Eddie enough.

Experiencia fantástica: Really well-structured program in small group class setting that has helped us advance our Spanish tremendously. Eddie is a great person to learn from and makes classes enjoyable. The pacing of learning is pretty fast in order to cater to the often limited timelines where expats are in town, but there is always the option to move ahead or repeat levels in order to best suit the pace at which you learn, and Eddie is good at helping students make adjustments to their learning plan to best suit them. We always recommend this school to anyone looking for somewhere to learn Spanish in Vallarta

Es una excelente escuela de inglés, son bastante flexibles a nuestras necesidades, los maestros son muy buenos! Todo el personal siempre tratan bien a los niños, lo mejor es la observación de los increíbles avances en el habla. RECOMENDADISIIMOS!!!

Experiencia fantástica: There are several Spanish classes here in Puerto Vallarta but this is the best. A good class is mostly a good teacher and Eddie (Edison) teaches most of the Spanish classes. He is excellent. There are also English classes for Spanish speakers and that is mostly kids here in PV at the Plaza Caracol site. They give out scholarships for local kids to better themselves and get better jobs. Like a charity. But I am only reviewing the Spanish because thats what I have taken and know about. I have done classes in the winter for 3 years now with American English Tree. The classes spends a lot of time on proper grammar. More than just memorizing vocabulary. Edison the lead teacher, has also written the books. He was born and raised in Mexico, but as a child moved to the US, joined the army and taught language. Then returned to PV and started teaching here. So he knows perfect English and perfect Spanish. It really helps to have a teacher that knows English, it really helps a lot. Got a goofy question about why you use that word that way & Eddie knows why. You also learn the local (Mexican, Latin America) way to use words and how and when to use. I have never heard, "I'm not sure", or "let me go look that up" or anything like that. He just knows. We start with drills, drills, drills. Translate into Spanish and go over in class. Book one starts with at least a month going over Ser, Estar, Tener, and Ir. Like 1/2 the book. Nothing else for a month or more. Over and over, until it starts to sink in. I can say things in the past and future tense now, not just the present. Thats the program, learn critical verbs and go slow and really learn them. There are 10 books and figure 6 weeks for each book and thats a lot. Finish book one and you know the basics. Finish all 10 books and you will be close to totally fluent. My class is just finishing book 3. So Yes, I highly recommend this class.
