Experiencia positiva: He tomado dos clases con dos profesores a través de lengua y cultura- Elys (nivel A2.2) y Miguel (nivel B1.1). Tienen estilos muy diferentes, pero creo que el currículo esta bien organizado cuando los profesores siguenlo.

Mi primera clase fue en enero de 2025, y fue mi primera experiencia con clases en vivo desde estudiar español como niña. Quería estudiar la lengua en un lugar hispanohablante para que podía aprender en un ambiente de inmersión también. Nunca he visitado la Ciudad de México y elegí L&C por todas estas razones. Estaba en CDMX por tres semanas en enero, y me gustó tanto que volví en el verano. Me quedé por un mes y tomé cuatro semanas de clase en julio y agosto y otra vez tuve una experiencia genial. Y lo que es más - soy fotógrafa, y ellos me invitaron a mostrar mis fotos en los paredes de la escuela para una exhibición. Eso fue un honor y muy divertido. Todos los maestros en la escuela son amables, pacientes, y responden a cualquier pregunta de los estudiantes. Tomé clases privadas y clases en grupo también. Tomé clases con Erick, Brenda, Diego, y Alberto Vizcarra. Todos los viernes íbamos en una excursión dentro de la ciudad y aprendíamos más de la cultura y la ciudad. Los viernes son los mejores! Si estás pensando en aprender español en un ambiente muy solidario y intimo con compañeros de todo el mundo, no dudes en inscribirte en una clase de L&C. Mi español ha mejorado muchisísimo durante y después esta experiencia y me inspiró ser fluida más rápidamente. ¡Gracias de nuevo, Equipo de L&C!

Experiencia fantástica: L&C was extremely professional, cooperative and accommodating when I learned that I would be unable to travel to Mexico and attend the courses I signed up for. An unexpected medical situation caused me to cancel my plans to study at L&C. I really appreciate their willingness to provide a full refund, and I hope to one day in the future I will be able to take courses at this school.

Experiencia fantástica: Great school! I have been taking semi-private classes with Mr. Dieter for almost 2 months, and it's been great! We didn't even need to use the book, he has a unique approach in explaiting the structure of the language and the grammer in a smooth way. Excited for our next classes!

Experiencia fantástica: The instruction at Lengua y Cultura is truly exceptional. My primary teacher in the intensive program was not only deeply knowledgeable, but also patient, engaging, and skilled at breaking down complex Spanish grammar in a way that actually made sense. I also worked with a tutor through the school for individual sessions, and she was fabulous. She was warm, encouraging, and incredibly effective at helping me deepen my understanding. The combination of a talented classroom instructor and a knowledgeable, supportive personal tutor created a learning environment where real progress was possible, and I was excited to continue. However, students with disabilities or mobility challenges should be aware that the school does have accessibility barriers. There is a ramp, but accessing it can be difficult because the sidewalk leading to it is high, and the curb cut is uneven and broken. In addition, although one of the buildings does have an elevator, access to the bathroom requires going down a staircase with only one banister. For some people with disabilities, including myself, this makes the bathroom inaccessible. Because of these structural limitations, I was only able to attend one day of the program and could not continue, even though I loved the instruction and the learning environment. For students who are able to navigate the space without difficulty, I highly recommend the program.

Experiencia fantástica: I spent four weeks at L&C Spanish School taking 1:1 lessons. Overall, I thought the curriculum was very good. I had several instructors — Sylvia and Brenda — both of whom genuinely wanted to tailor the lessons to my interests and goals. I started with zero Spanish. We focused on practical Spanish for everyday situations like exercise, travel, and dining, which was exactly what I wanted. The Friday field trips were fun! They were a fun and cultural way to practice Spanish outside the classroom. I recommend having at least a basic level of Spanish before joining, since most of the activities and instructions are entirely in Spanish. I came in with zero background, so it was a bit challenging to keep up — but still a great learning experience. Erik, who hosts the field trips, was fantastic. Through his guidance, I learned how to navigate the metro and metro bus, which really boosted my confidence using public transportation in the city. Any concerns or issues I had was quickly addressed and resolved by either Adrian, the Administrator or Marco, the Director. I truly appreciate this! Overall, I truly enjoyed my time here and would love to return to take more Spanish language classes in the future. Highly recommend for anyone looking to immerse themselves in Spanish while experiencing local culture!

Experiencia fantástica: During a brief trip to Mexico City the previous winter from my home in Alaska, I became infatuated with The City’s vibrant cultural scene, the variety and quality of its food choices, it’s lovely parks, and the friendliness of its people who were patient with my imperfect attempts at speaking Spanish. I promised myself I would return for a longer stay and now I am here determined to improve my Spanish communication skills. Prior to my return, I researched dozens of websites devoted to presenting the best Mexico City has to offer visiting travelers, including a solid language school where I could sharpen my skills. One school came up consistently as the best in Mexico City: Lengua y Cultura. I am now enrolled in Lengua y Cultura’s Intensive Spanish course with three-hour long classes five days a week. The teachers are experienced and knowledgeable professionals. One important feature of the course is the weekly field trips into the community where interactions with the heart and soul of The City—its people—occur. The pace of my learning is demanding but fun and I’ve decided to extend the course a couple more weeks. I will then transition to meeting with one of their expert tutors one-on-one a few times a week. I heartily recommend the Mexico City Language Center’s excellent Lengua y Cultura programs to anyone considering undertaking the study of this beautiful and expressive language. Experiencia fantástica: I loved taking both group and private Spanish lessons at this school. The group class was great and it was nice to complement it with private lessons. My private teacher, Sheyla is absolutely wonderful. She is very professional, knowledgeable, and patient. We took a field trip to Mercado de Jamaica on the last day of the week which was an absolutely amazing experience to practice our Spanish among the locals. I highly recommend this school if you’re interested in learning Spanish.

Experiencia fantástica: I spent a month at Lengua y Cultura and had an amazing experience. Adrián, the Administrator was genuinely helpful, sorted everything smoothly. My teachers, Brenda and Dieter made classes fun without being over-the-top, really improving my Spanish to where I feel I can get along pretty well in any situation. Both offered the opportunity to discuss real world issues in Spanish and gave me the chance to get to know my fellow students, while we shared our journeys. Dieter's every day ritual of asking each student, "Que hiciste ayer?" turned into these unexpected heart-to-hearts with my classmates. Nothing forced, just everyone loosening up, swapping stories. I really feel I made some good friends and plan to keep up with them by practicing my Spanish over Whatsapp. The weekly field trips were, maybe, the best part. Diego and Eric guided us through Mexico City's neighborhoods and museums with such insight on history and people. We all felt like we were hanging with friends. It also allowed for a truly immersive experience because, during the travel time, we conversed exclusively in Spanish and were able to get help if we needed it. It was also fun to eavesdrop on others' conversations and understand what they were saying. ; ) I highly recommend Lengua y Cultura. In fact, I plan to go back to Mexico city many times in the future and will always spend some time at this great institution of learning.

Great way to meet other students in the area too and really nice social events. They're also very flexible when you need to make changes to your schedule. Shout out to Dieter - my teacher. He's very dynamic and keeps the classes interesting, even for Grammer learning.

I have attended various language schools and had a number of Spanish teachers here in Mexico, and the teachers at this school are simply the best by far! They combines innovative teaching techniques, immaculate and charismatic communication skills, vast linguistic and cultural knowledge and lovely, kind and enthusiastic personalities. I give the school and their program 10/10 and the highest recommendation for the best and most complete package of cultural and linguistic teaching programs and experiences and learning in CDMX!

Experiencia negativa: If you come across this review, DO NOT come here under any circumstances. To briefly explain: A) The instructors here have no real teaching methodology. Their lessons lack logical structure and sequence, coupled with a heavy Mexican English accent that hinders comprehension. B) There are no courses suitable for beginners. Nothing matches their advertised claims, and everything operates with alarming unprofessionalism. C) The staff feign kindness while employing underhanded tactics, prioritizing money above all ethics. After wasting extensive time negotiating a refund to my paypal account , they issued an incorrect amount, blamed it on a "system error" (we all know the truth), and demanded in-person meetings to retrieve the remaining balance. This is just a condensed summary – the actual experience was far more appalling. If you value your time and money, steer clear of this place.

Experiencia fantástica: I work as a teacher myself and have attended many language schools over the years – but this one is by far the best! The teachers are didactically outstanding, highly competent, and make the lessons engaging, effective, and motivating. I was especially impressed by the wide range of extracurricular activities, which are not only fun but also spark a genuine desire to keep learning. The atmosphere at the school is warm and welcoming – you feel at home right away. I will definitely be coming back and can recommend this school without hesitation! Experiencia fantástica: I attended L&C in September/October of 2024 for one month, enrolling in the Super Intensive program (3 hours of group classes and 2 hours of private lessons each day). After thoroughly researching Spanish schools in Mexico, I chose L&C—and the TL;DR is: look no further. They will help you get the absolute most out of your time. Before starting, I could only use common phrases. By the end, I was holding basic conversations in Spanish. For context, I live in Los Cabos, Mexico, where I’ve managed to get by with only very basic Spanish. I’m not naturally gifted with languages (quite the opposite) and only spoke English for the first 25 years of my life. L&C helped me break through major barriers in my Spanish learning journey. The staff were all welcoming and supportive. Over my four weeks, I had the pleasure of working with four teachers: Brenda, Alaya, Sheyla, and Eric. They were all fantastic, I especially benefited from my private lessons with Sheyla and Eric in the afternoons—I learned so much in those sessions. The personal relationships I made with them really helped keep me motivated throughout my time at L&C. The program is clearly structured and thoughtfully designed. I felt consistently challenged but never overwhelmed. By the end of each week, my brain hurt—in the best way. I genuinely don’t think I could’ve absorbed any more than I did. Now, 6 months later, I’d describe my Spanish as basic conversational. While I don’t work exclusively in Spanish, I can now manage conversations with people who don’t speak any English. This was a huge barrier for me previously, and L&C helped me push through it and reach a level where I can keep improving through everyday use. I look forward to finding another opportunity to return to L&C at some point in the not too distant future!

I learnt so much in a short amount of time- enough to get me talking in basic conversation from knowing nothing is amazing for one week! Guillermo was an incredible teacher, kind and patient and genuinely engaged with all the students. He also added in really interesting etymology and cultural knowledge that brought the language to life. Daniel was exceptionally kind and helpful with the administrative process. Experiencia fantástica: I have had an amazing experience studying online with Alaya. So much so that I purchased some lessons for my dad for a Christmas present. I am an advanced beginner. Which means I understand more than I can speak. Before my lessons with Alaya, could only converse in the present tense. Now I'm starting to learn past tense. From my very first class, Alaya told me we would speak entirely in Spanish. There is very little English spoken. Except for when she wants to explain a more nuanced point to make sure I get it. She is clearly a very experienced teacher with a method that works very well for me. First, she introduces a concept, for example, the preterite tense during our session. After explaining how it is used, she drills me during class. Then she sends me homework exercises. What I really enjoy is that she also shares information with me about Mexican culture. Places, people and customs. So I'm learning a lot more than how to speak and understand words. She is also super patient and has a great personality. I would highly recommend studying with Alaya. In fact I just signed up for another 20 lessons!

I’ve taken Spanish classes before but the intensive here is really good. You get to do speaking, listening, writing and reading all in the one class. You get to build off that every lesson - it’s very chill and fun as well. They also have a lot of after work activities too if you want to make friends or practice your Spanish. Shayla is the best! And my experiences with the other teachers have been lovely too. Would definitely recommend for all different levels of Spanish. ¡Gracias por ayudarme!

Before I went, I was a little worried that after decades of not being in a classroom, 5 hours of Spanish a day would be too much. However 3 hours of excellent group classes with Eric flew by because of his dynamic style, ability to engage the whole class, and command of teaching. Then 2 hours with Sheyla was equally engaging because of her deep skills and great vibes. The field trips that Eric and Sheyla oversaw were really fun and deeply educational about the history and culture of México as well as some of the different off-the-beaten-path areas of CDMX. I had 2 weeks of awesome classes, learned an incredible amount, and will definitely be back for more classes at L&C muy pronto.

I was in CDMX for two months, and I went from knowing almost no Spanish to being able to navigate almost any space with comfort thanks to how great the teachers and staff were at L&C. I love them! Experiencia fantástica: This was my first time traveling by myself and for a whole month. I'm glad I chose this school. They were easy to communicate with, located in a great area, and are very organized. If you are looking for a more formal setting to study and see your progress, try here. In the morning from 9-12, I took small group classes (5-8 people) with Aldo or Brenda that were slightly above my level, which worked out well. It was great when we would do practice exercises with classmates. The first four days are similar to a high school classroom setting but moves at a rapid pace, and then Fridays are field trips which are a great opportunity to practice speaking and experience more culture. In the afternoon from 4-6 (it sounds like an awkward time, but it actually worked out great), I studied for two hours with Sheyla, who is the BEST! She helped me gain confidence in speaking, and helped me review and go deeper into what we learned in class. I wish I could have stayed longer! I made a lot of progress :)

I started out as a beginner and became more confident in my spoken spanish. I also loved that they took us out on excursions into the different neighborhoods every Friday - it helped me learn more about the city. They offer classes for all levels and there were some students who did both morning and afternoon classes - they are so flexible based on your needs. Thank you Vanessa, Karen, Alaya, Sheyla, Diego, Brenda for making my cdmx visit so much more fun!!

Experiencia fantástica: I recently completed 3 weeks at the L&C school. My teachers were excellent. A special call out to Dieter – who infused great conversation into the classroom. I really enjoyed learning about the culture of CDMX and some history of the country. The class sizes are small, the teachers pushed us to learn, but were also accommodating to our current abilities. Wonderful mix of classmates as well. I appreciated the small, more informal nature of the school. Highly recommend!

I attended L&C for 4 months coming in with only the basics, but finished my time at the school being functional in Spanish and confident in my ability to live and work in the city. The school offers different levels of instruction based on prior experience and desired intensity. For best experience, I recommend staying in communication and clarifying your specific needs with the directors, who are very amenable to every need. If you find yourself in a class that does not suit you, you can always change.

Such amazing and welcoming people work there and my Spanish improved greatly. I must say that private classes can speed up the process, though. Vanessa was the nicest, sweetest coordinator and I took classes with Erick, Sheyla and Guillermo - all great people and teachers. Highly recommend.

Coming in with a basic understanding of the language I was a bit nervous that I wouldn’t be ready for these classes, but at the end of my four weeks I am incredibly pleased by how much I’ve learned and how much I enjoyed each class! My teacher was Dieter, who provided the most thorough explanations of Spanish grammar I’ve ever received, in addition to teaching us important colloquial terms and phrases. The staff are amazing too, shout-out to Vanessa and Karen! I highly recommend taking classes here for anyone looking to really dive into the Spanish language and immerse themselves while in Mexico.

The classes were well adjusted to my knowledge and to my needs. I have gained a lot of insight into the Mexican culture and the Spanish language. I can recommend the school to everyone who have interest to be immersed in the Mexican way of life. You will be offered a lot of well designed and structured trips and will be able to meet other Spanish enthusiasts from all over the world. If I could I would give the school 10 stars instead of 5. Experiencia fantástica: This is one of the best immersive language schools I’ve been to in Mexico. I’m currently taking the A2.1 group intensive classes with Dieter. It is impressive his ability to simplify complex subjects. He is patient with us, and is great at balancing structured learning with practical application/ verbal practice. The three hours flies by.

Experiencia fantástica: This school is wonderful! I spent one month in CDMX and really enjoyed my time learning at L&C - it was one of the highlights of my trip. Both of my teachers Aldo and Erick were helpful, engaging, and patient. I wish I had more time to continue learning, but found that even in a short few weeks, I made some progress and feel more comfortable speaking. The group classes are a great place to pick up vocabulary and grammar, and I found myself laughing and smiling because they were also fun. The private lessons were perfect to put new knowledge to the test and get more comfortable speaking quickly. Highly recommend!

Not only am I learning Spanish, but I’m also learning important Mexican cultural components to make it easier to live here. I love that the school has a sense of community and I have been able to meet other students with similar interests. If you are deciding on a school, I would 100% recommend that you try this one!

I took several different classes with different teachers (group and private), and I was always blown away by how effective and professional everyone was. The administrators, especially Vanessa, are amazing and always super helpful. These teachers made my Spanish 1000x better than it was before: Carlos, Alaya, Diego, and Sheyla. I highly recommend this school!

Experiencia fantástica: I have been searching for a language school to do a short trip specifically to advance my Spanish. I did a lot of research and eventually chose L&C and I am SO happy that I did. I was only able to go for a week, but the amount of exposure and learning I got made even that short of a trip beyond worth it. The classes are clearly oriented to adult learners which was amazing, and the classes were a perfect blend of study, experiences, and real world application. The teachers clearly had a lot of mutual respect and companionship, which made the experience that much better. I feel like not only did I get the opportunity to practice my language skills, but also to truly experience Mexico City, learn so much about its people and culture, and I’ve made friends that I know will last a lifetime. I could not recommend the school more highly, and I will absolutely be returning!

Experiencia fantástica: As I'll be traveling Latin America a few years I knew I Needed to learn basic Spanish, at least. I found L&C and contacted them before my arrival in Mexico City with questions and they were very quick to respond. Since starting lessons I had a hard time catching up with my delayed start (due to travel & schedule to get here) and they switched me to a tutor for a few days at my request, later I found I needed to simply restart in another class. Today for medical reasons I was *Very Vague* about to teacher and registration staff I had to take the day off at home. Through all this and many questions asked by me all personnel have been absolutely friendly, supportive, and helpful. The Zero Spanish (I needed!) class teacher has taught in a very clear way, and been positive and active in creating understanding in a class mixed of those learning Spanish as a second or third language. The school is easy to reach by public transportation. I am still a student and will be for a while (extended my time in Mexico City to continue classes at L&C, if that tells you anything!) and am just so happy I chose this school. I highly recommend them.

Experiencia fantástica: For me, learning Spanish had always been a daunting and dreadful pursuit that filled with frustration. I gave it up several times then picked it up again with same fear in my mind even though I improved slightly each time. After spending a month at home, I decided to move to Mexico City to give it a final push. I am so happy I went to Lengua & Cultura. In Saturday classes with Adri and private classes with Dieter, I learned a lot of the basics and some quite advanced grammar techniques. I like interactions in group classes with Adri, on language and on culture. Dieter’s methodology on teaching grammars really conquered my fear on complexity of the system. Throughout the weeks, I was just so excited every time to catch some of the difficult stuff that I had just learned in YouTube videos. No, I still can’t get used to fast Spanish conversation and my vocabulary is yet to be expanded. But mentally I am confident I can do it, without any fear or hesitation. It’s just a matter of time. The school has helped to lift me up to a comfortable state of mind. And just picture this, you get to hang out with your classmates, share your learning experiences, and experiences in the city or even the country. You are amigos in your journey to speak Spanish. You can go to some events to interact with your fellow classmates & local people, and they put efforts to make it interesting. I want to say Gracias to Adri, Dieter and all the staff there who helped me. My Spanish journey really started here.

Experiencia fantástica: Highly recommend L&C for short-term or longer-term language study. I came in at the A2 level, having had fitful bouts with other Spanish immersion courses here and there over the last 5 years. I took two weeks of group classes with Dieter, who is a thoroughly excellent, experienced teacher. In addition to being a lifelong student (I'm a nerd), I too am an educator: I know when you luck out and have the opportunity to benefit from a teacher who shows both enthusiasm for and deep knowledge of their subject, who has developed their own best practices and methods but is also flexible and able to meet students wherever they are. I also took a week of private classes with Erich and appreciated his varied, creative approaches to language acquisition, much of which reflected his own personal interests and studies. In addition to grammar exercises, we read Palestinian poetry (translated into Spanish, of course) and watched short films, all in service of having more complex conversations in Spanish. I think, ultimately, that I would have had a harder time in private classes had I not also taken group classes. Different teachers have different styles and approaches: I would encourage students to take classes with more than one instructor. Vanessa and Karen in the administrative office were always available by email or in the office to offer assistance. I needed to miss a couple of sessions and they were very easygoing about providing options for making up those classes. Very affordable for the quality of instruction one receives and centrally located: I highly recommend Lengua y Cultura!

Experiencia fantástica: I've been there four weeks and my Spanish has improved by leaps and bounds. Really a wonderful group of teachers (I've taken group classes and private lessons with Adriana, Lidia, Diego, and Erick). Each teacher brings their own approach to the classroom, but their enthusiasm and encouragement have been invaluable. And most classes are 4-5 students, max. If only language had been taught like this in my high school! I'm also an older student - 43 - and I was worried that I would feel out of place, but that hasn't been the case at all. The school does a really good job encouraging the students to socialize with each other and taking us on field trips every Friday. Really a wonderful experience!

As absolute beginners in Spanish we were made to feel welcome and to learn in an encouraging environment. The school is close to public transport for easy access.

Experiencia fantástica: I had a bit of a rocky start, finding my initial intermediate course to be too advanced for me, but the school's director was able to shift me into private classes for the rest of the week, which went well. I was then put in a much more appropriate class (with Diego) for my level and thoroughly enjoyed it for the next month. My Spanish improved quite a lot and I also learned quite a lot about Mexican history and culture. Overall a really great experience!

Experiencia fantástica: I had a week of online Spanish tutoring through L&C Spanish School. My teacher Karla was engaging and planned interesting lessons that pertained to my specific situation. I'm a beginner in Spanish and my goal for the week was to build confidence speaking Spanish. Thanks to Karla I took some risks and feel much better about my Spanish at the end of the week.

Experiencia positiva: I really enjoyed my instructor at this school, Cesar. He was engaging, incredibly prepared, and had interesting lesson plans. That said, I didn't love the schools organization. I started with a different teacher but in the middle of my first week he apparently moved to a different state leaving me without a teacher. They changed my schedule of classes as a result of this, but when I told them I couldn’t make the new time because of my work schedule, they refused to return my money. I don't think this is fair because I communicated my schedule before starting classes and was not responsible for the sudden change. I would have to complete the classes within the calendar year or they would expire. I ended up sticking it out, thinking I would complete as many hours as I could before leaving Mexico City. I bounced around to different subs until meeting Cesar. I enjoyed his teaching so much I ended up extending my stay in Mexico City to work with him more and complete my class package. Though I'm happy to have found a good teacher, I wish that the school was more accommodating.

My teacher, Farah, was personable and knowledgeable and the classroom was a laid-back, judgement-free zone. We learned through conversations, making mistakes, and applied Spanish to real-life scenarios. The staff is so kind and supportive too. Highly recommend if you're in CDMX!

Their style of teaching is effective for all levels of Spanish learners. They offer various classes for beginners, intermediate speakers, and advanced speakers. Class sizes are small, so students still receive individualized instruction. I took the intermediate intensive course and private lessons, and both did wonders for my reading, listening, and speaking. The school is located in Condesa, which is a beautiful and very safe neighborhood. It’s walking distance to parks, restaurants, etc. I highly recommend studying here; it’s an experience I won’t soon forget!

Experiencia fantástica: Definitely recommend for anyone looking to really enhance their Spanish at any level! I took an intensive 2-week course and it not only improved my confidence when listening, reading, writing and speaking Spanish, but taught me a lot about the culture and heritage of Mexico including some amazing local tips. From the moment I arrived I felt welcomed and really appreciate how flexible they were with accommodating my schedule and working with me to make sure I was able to get all the hours I singed up for. The classes were fun and engaging with lots of opportunities to practice speaking. I also attended a short cooking class offered after one of our sessions that was super fun and free. Experiencia fantástica: My experience at Lengua y Cultura was excellent. I had the best teacher that I have ever had in any subject, maestra Alexandra. I was at the beginning level for the two weeks I was there and she had our class speaking full sentences in the first week. Her warmth and humor made all of us relax and enjoy our whole experience. She also took us on two field trips, the flower market & little Oxaca, where we were able to use our Spanish in the community, and practice the names of many flower and food items.

Experiencia positiva: I hate leaving poor reviews, but this school was very disorganized. I've gone to a few different Spanish schools before and I would not return here. My first day of school one of my teachers was not available, so I missed out on two hours of teaching. Another day the same teacher was absent. I did not end up getting all of the hours I paid for. I also feel like the teaching method is very dated. They teach and lecture out of a book its not very interactive as you would expect in an immersion program. I felt I could have learned more at a different school.

Experiencia fantástica: I am at an advanced intermediate level in Spanish, and spent 2 weeks of intensive study at the school in February 2023. Individual lessons with Guillermo Urioste were a highlight as he was able to help me improve my speaking and listening while also reviewing some key grammar points. He managed to correct errors without stopping the flow of interesting conversations. I also took group lessons which were useful, although the teachers were at times challenged with the range of abilities of the students grouped together for a particular week.
