Experiencia fantástica: I took the week-long private classes and my teacher was amazing! Zayda was able to meet me where I was with my Spanish and help me to improve. She was able to recognize when I needed to rest and she had so much patience for me and I would definitely recommend her and PSI to anyone in Ensenada looking to improve their Spanish skills.

Experiencia negativa: How can this place charge $47 dollars per hour for 1 on 1 teaching, more expensive than California in Los Angeles you can find $35 hourly rate. In the end I could find another one for $500 pesos for 2 hours rate, or around $15 dollars per hourly rate is very good in Ensenada, and you can find even better rate in other parts of Baja and inland Mexico. I visited once. the receptionista was not professional and did not understand what I said (English), unless I had to speak English very slow and only simple words, so I am concerned when I need to ask something in English this teacher is supposed to teach in Spanish in proper manner but unable ‍↔️ to understand enough English. Additionally, this place charge USD in cash only, or equivalent pesos, no acceptance of any card.

Experiencia fantástica: I attended the weekend option. The instructor was great. She was patient and knowledgeable. I needed practice with preterite, imperfect, and future tenses, and the instructor tailored the lessons to really drill into my problem areas. I feel like my language skills greatly improved even in a short two-day course. I recommend the Pacific Spanish Institute.

I had the pleasure of taking online classes with Lupita, the owner, during the spring which inspired me to travel to Ensenada this summer to take in person classes. I have taken language classes in other cities in Mexico and found that my experience at the Pacific Spanish Institute exceeded my expectations and was a superior experience. My teacher, Zayda, was skillful, patient, personable and prepared. The classrooms are well equipped with engaging materials and the instruction is really personalized to students' interests and levels. The overall atmosphere of this school is very friendly, warm and encouraging. The school is conveniently located with lots of great food options nearby. I will definitely be returning to the Pacific Spanish Institute and can recommend it with confidence.

Experiencia fantástica: I spent about 2 years searching and contacting several spanish language school in california and baja california. After much investigation and thought I am so thankful to have decided with Pacific Institute of Spanish. This special school exceeded my expectations. In addition, to providing excellent class content and teaching styles the teachers are exceptionally welcoming and kind. They are all eager to help with the entire Ensenada experience including language, culture, and city life. The director and teacher Lupita helped find a soccer league and piano teacher so that my boys could could continue to enjoy their pastimes while immersing in the spanish language. Lupita also connected my family with a kind and accommodating taxi driver who was always available and early. Without asking our taxi driver, Juanito offered and even treated my boys to the best churro place in town. Lupita has an amazing community of people who can help your stay in Ensenada feel like a home away from home. My teacher Reyna was so creative in teaching spanish. Every day was an adventure and practical lesson that personalized spanish to my daily needs. My sons teacher is gifted with kids and teens. My boys are still laughing about some of the experiences they had in Stella class. They returned home with an eagerness to continue to learn the language because classes were fun and they learned to admire Stella for her firm but fun way of teaching. The school is nestled in a part of town that is calm yet near many important places like medical clinics, pharmacies, restaurants, grocery stores, and parks. We were blessed to be able to walk to almost every location including the school every day. Juanito just transported us to the sports center where my boys trained with 'Las Chivas' for 4 weeks, another unforgettable experience.The sports center is about 15 minutes from the school and it offers over 10 athletic disciplines including: football, soccer, baseball, volley, basketball, roller derby, cycling, swimming, archery, track and field, boxing, and more. It was a fun way to continue to mingle with the community and stay immersed in the language. There are several parks near the school and they are always busy with kids playing soccer, volleyball, basketball, and people walking. Young people were so friendly, my boys were invited to join in the sports and practice their spanish during our visits to the parks. I can continue to share our wonderful experience at Pacific Instititute of Spanish and the beautiful city of Ensenada like the Malecon, PaiPai, Las Canadas, La Bufadora because like I mentioned this special school and city exceeded my expectations. I now have a special place in my heart for both. Don't hesitate! You will not regret visiting

Experiencia fantástica: If you are serious about improving your Spanish in a short amount of time, I highly recommend coming down to Ensenada. I am extremely satisfied with my short but impactful week at Pacific Spanish Institute. I've been studying Spanish for a couple years now and with a variety of methods, teachers and schools and I feel that this is the best in terms of quality and price. I expressed to Maestra Lupita in my pre-registration form that I wanted to focus on subjunctive, and was able to get that and so much more. I was in class with Maestra Reyna and 2 other students. Despite each of us having different strength and weaknesses, Reyna made it so that we learned from each other and was able to orient the course to meet all of our needs. Maestra Reyna is the best Spanish teacher I have had. She is thoughtful, patient and experienced. Her dedication to the craft of teaching, her passion for language and her own curiosity all help make her an incredible educator. She was receptive and intuitive to my needs as a student and went above and beyond to make sure I learned as much possible in my week. She has a great sense of humor and a genuine desire for her students to succeed. I can't say enough about how impressed I am with the caliber of education I received in Ensenada. The teaching method is unique. No textbooks, but tried and true exercises to get to the heart of understanding the grammar necessary to advance in Spanish. Everything was well organized and I'm grateful to Maestra Lupita, Maestra Reyna and all the other teachers who work together to create a wonderful learning environment so close to the border.

Experiencia fantástica: I arrived in Ensenada on a Sunday afternoon knowing essentially no Spanish at all, where I was met by my wonderful host (Mexican mom), Blanca at the bus station. She greeted me with a hug and was incredibly warm, friendly and patient as I attempted to communicate using a combination of improvised gestures, a translation app, and my wild attempts at guessing Spanish words from their English or French equivalents. Starting essentially from scratch over five days in the Pacific Spanish Institute immersion program, my language competence (and confidence) grew exponentially. My teacher Zayda was extremely kind, skillful and patient as she managed to teach me grammar foundations (including 5 tenses for regular and irregular verbs), vocabulary, speaking and listening fluency. Within just a couple of days, I could have conversations with her, with Blanca, and with the other students and instructors about topics as complex as weather dynamics, the biology of cancer, politics – of course, with a whole lot of patience on everybody's part. :) The atmosphere at the school was amazingly friendly. The building is a repurposed single-family home (complete with a full kitchen and a beautiful cat!). I was blown away by how happy all the teachers and students were; there was constant laughter, children playing games and good vibes all around. The school takes the principle of immersion very seriously. Only Spanish is spoken at the school regardless of how much of a beginner you are. The teachers are all kind, caring and possess the gift of endless patience to help ensure that even complete beginners like myself could build confidence and fluency. The school attracts an eclectic crowd; while I was there, the other students included a union organizer from LA, a professor from Phoenix, and a second-gen Mexican-American nurse from Oxnard with her two sons. I even heard about a student who sailed in a boat from Tahiti (!) to Ensenada to attend the school in the past year. I also recommend the home stay experience strongly. Blanca made sure I was well fed everyday, and was great fun chatting with everyday over breakfast and dinner. Like my teacher Zayda, the wonderful principal Lupita and the other teachers, Blanca was also extremely patient and helpful as my competence and confidence to carry on a conversation grew substantially over the week. Ensenada is a lovely city as well, with friendly people, mild climate and plenty of delicious food on offer. Make sure you ask the teachers what the best lunch options are! (I couldn't help going back repeatedly to the Baja-style fish taco stall in the Calimax parking lot.) For any science nerds out there, I also highly recommend a visit to the Museum Caracol by the waterfront. Finally, doing "regular life" things like buying lunch, visiting a gym, getting a haircut or buying a bus ticket in Spanish all contribute to the immersion experience, so I highly recommend also spending some time in the city. :)

Experiencia fantástica: The immersion program at the Pacific Spanish Institute is amazing. I started learning Spanish online in the States, and there is only so much you can learn by taking classes once or twice a week. I have been to the school twice now and plan to return as often as I can. Every time I have gone to the school, my Spanish has increased drastically in a short period of time. I have used the housing provided by the school and it has always been amazing. The food, the hospitality, and the ability to have conversations all day is amazing. I highly recommend it. The teachers at the school are very good with all levels of Spanish. They will only speak to you in Spanish. This is what I think makes the program so immersive. They have a skill at speaking in the most basic Spanish to get the point across. I recommend taking some time before you come to learn basic sentences in Spanish and basic verbs. This will help you advance much faster as you will be speaking in Spanish all day, so its good to have a little bit of foundation. It doesnt need to be much, but you should be able to ask very simple questions like, "how are you," "Where is the bathroom." Another recommendation is to bring a small car if you're driving and have the ability to, parking can be challenging. The longer you are able to stay, the better. I have only stayed for long weekends, and I have always wanted to stay longer because my Spanish was improving so much. The teachers are amazing, and tailor the class to your skill level. They can tell where you are at skill wise and they will always make the class just a little bit out of your comfort zone to keep pushing you to learn more. Again, I cannot recommend the school enough; if you want to take your Spanish to the next level, you have to immerse yourself in the language. Lupita will take amazing care of you at the school and Ofelia or Blanca will make your stay at their homes very memorable.

My kid has been there twice (intermediate and advanced level) with Maestra Lupita and Maetra Reina and he still wants to go back during a later holiday break. I also took my younger kid there during this thanksgiving week who is at beginner level. They both said the pace was good, the classes were fun and they've learned a lot. My older kid also stayed in Senora Blanca's home during the previous break, went out with Alex, and he enjoyed a lot on the great experiences and delicious food:)

Experiencia fantástica: Pasé 5 dias a la Pacific Spanish Institute y aprendi mucho. Tengo 65 años y he intentado de aprendir español por mi propio durante mas que 30 años. De lejos este fue lo mejor. Lupita era mi maestra. Sabe el contenido muy bien y lo enseña en una manera facile entender con un gran sentido de humor. Ademas Lupita me llevó a la Valle de Guadalupe para una dia de degustation de vino con mi anfitriona Blanca. Hablante de Blanca, yo recomiendo que quedes con ella para continuar tu practica de español. Ella te cocinará la comida saborosa, te hablará y te corrige en español y proporcionará un hogar cómodo. En resumen, doy mi más alta recomendación para este programa de immersion en español de primer nivel.

Experiencia fantástica: It's the best! I took two years of college Spanish and couldn't talk to people. I was able to learn to speak Spanish very quickly here. They have good teachers for children also - it's not a babysitting service. The children (about 9 and older) really learn to speak Spanish, and enjoy it.

Experiencia fantástica: This was hands down one of the most impressive Spanish learning experiences I have EVER had. I spent a weekend w Blanca who houses people (eat and live w this LOVELY family). She cooks breakfast and dinner while speaking Spanish to us. Where we didn't understand she would use some English. It was PERFECT. And then we went to Pacific Spanish Institute where we had morning lessons w teachers. It was so perfectly tailored for my level which is in between beginner/intermediate. My son and friend came along but they had a more advanced class. Perfect for their level, too. Time flew during the classes as we mixed conversation w grammar. After 2 days, I am WAY more advanced than I've ever been. I am DEFINITELY coming back for a week at a time. I can't wait!!! BTW Ensenada is beautiful. Very kind people, beautiful ocean scenery, some good surf spots (I'm from San Diego), and super safe. Come check it out!

Reyna adapted toy pace perfectly and answered all of hundreds of questions patiently and passionately. Although I was only there for one week we made two little excursions - 100% spanish of course! Experiencia fantástica: Do it! Go! Seriously, if you're learning Spanish, especially if you've been at it for a while, you really need to do this. I went for 2 weeks in February of 2023. I was apprehensive about whether it'd be worth the investment. I wondered how much I could really learn in two weeks. My fears were totally unfounded. It was 100% worth going. I did 6 hours a day of private lessons, did the homestay, and ran around town a lot. They offer all levels but in my opinion, it's really better to go after you've already put some time and study in. I plan on continuing to study and then going again next year for a week (2 weeks would be nice but I think by then 1 week will be good enough to polish up my Spanish a bit). Oh and Ensenada is a cool city. The people are chill. I never felt unsafe walking around the city.

Experiencia fantástica: I'd been using a language app on my phone for a couple of months a year ago in anticipation to sailing into Mexico this year. Boat projects brought that study to a halt. All of a sudden we were in Mexico and my lack of comprehension was obvoius. A cruising guide mentioned a language school in Ensenada and I looked it up. We took a 5 day class. By halfway through the 2nd day, I was understanding and recognizing words way past where the app had got me! On the 4th day it was obvoius that my brain was filled up with so many words and phrases that the instructors recognized this an switched my focus to what would help me the most. This was a great kickstart to my understanding of Spanish and an investment in my future! Big thanks to the whole staff at PSI!

Experiencia fantástica: Acabo de pasar tres semanas inolvidables en Pacific Spanish Institute, mejorando mucho mi confianza, comprensión auditiva, y habilidad de conversación con mi gran maestra increíble, Lupita. Lupita, Zayda, Bety, y Blanca son unas de las personas más maravillosas que he conocido. Inmediatamente cuando llegué me sentía en casa y me saludaron como un pariente apreciado. Lupita tiene un gran don para la enseñanza, cuidando pacientemente y generosamente a las necesidades de cada estudiante como una jardinera creando un pedacito de paraíso en la tierra. Mis primeras dos semanas eran en el grupo pequeño intensivo con dos más estudiantes, y era un placer notar todas las maneras sutiles que ella equilibraba las necesidades progresivas del grupo con las necesidades específicas de cada individuo. Cuando encontré que podía quedarme una semana adicional, ella contrató otra maestra para que ella y yo podríamos continuar juntos. Entré al programa con un sentimiento de estar atrapado entre los niveles A2 y B1, pero después de tres semanas, me siento que pueda decir que ahora estoy entre los B1 y B2. El estilo de enseñanza de Lupita es una mezcla orgánica de método estructurado (estructura profunda, vocab y frases de frecuencia alta, práctica de pregunta-respuesta oral integrada, tareas escritas con relevancia, etc), explicación cuando necesitada, y conversación natural de la vida real—cada mañana se empezó por hablar de que ocurrió en el día de antes después de escuela… y a menudo ella nos diría histórias de su propia vida y nos animaría hacer al mismo!... todo con gran corazón, autenticidad y paciencia. Algunos programas de estudiar anuncian inmersión de lengua y cultura, pero en Pacific Spanish Institute es integrada. Durante mis tres semanas, fuimos al museo de ciencia local, compramos comida juntos en un supermercado, preparamos tacos de pescado y ceviche, y jugamos juegos juntos como una escuela entera. La escuela sí misma tiene un ambiente cómodo y hogareño, y hay una linda gatita, Mila, que pasa el rato con todos, también. Esta escuela completamente sobrepasó mis expectativas, y planeo asistir de nuevo en el futuro. Recomiendo completamente el Pacific Spanish Institute. ¡Una montaña de gracias y abrazos de corazón a todas las maestras!

Experiencia fantástica: Myself and my wife spent one week at the school with the amazing, and very patient, Zayda as our teacher. We also did the homestay. It was a wonderful place to learn from scratch, as we came into the class with zero Spanish. We were challenged to cover as much as possible but also we focused on a whole bunch of practical Spanish we needed for our trip through Latin America.

Experiencia fantástica: I spent a week taking Spanish classes at Pacific Spanish Institute while traveling on vacation in Ensenada. It was a great experience and they made me feel so welcome and supported during my time there, helping not only with grammar questions but also general questions on getting around and seeing the city. Very knowledgeable and tailored the class for areas of focus to help me advance the most in my time there, incorporating a variety of learning techniques to keep me engaged. Can’t wait to go back to see them and for more language class!

Experiencia fantástica: I took the medical spanish course and could not recommend this place more! Guadalupe (Lupita) and Reyna were fantastic teachers and it is clear that this course is Lupita's pride and joy. She would not take my payment until after the first full day to make sure that I was satisfied and wanted to continue for the time I signed up for. They tailored the course to my needs as an emergency med doctor and made the scenarios true to life but did not skip over on some of the fundamentals and grammar I was lacking. By the time my 2 weeks were up I had a thick binder full of material that we had reviewed and got to take it as well for studying later. I had a great 2 weeks and feel so much more confident talking to my patients now and I will stop by to see Lupita and Reyna when I come back to Ensenada.

Lupita greeted us a beautiful smile and open arms. Everyone we met was so warm and welcoming. Our wonderful maestra, Lydia possessed all the qualities of a great teacher. She was kind, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. It was so comfortable to be there and we learned so much that we have decided to attend classes again very soon.

The school is cozy and friendly and all the staff are amazing. They all know how to teach spanish with great annunciation and patience. If I could give this place more stars I would!!

Experiencia fantástica: My partner enjoyed our one week Spanish immersion course at the Pacific Spanish Institute. The staff were friendly, warm, patient and very competent at teaching us Spanish. The institute has a homey feel and we enjoyed the diverse techniques used including preparing a lunch of tamales which made this a true immersion experience.

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I attended a one-week session at Pacific Language Institute that was extremely worthwhile. The staff was kind, funny, and highly accomplished at getting us to the next level in comprehending and speaking Spanish. We enjoyed an included tour of two wineries in the Valle de Guadalupe, and a delicious Mexican lunch at our "graduation" on Friday. The homey facility is clean, modern, and nicely appointed.

Experiencia fantástica: I attended Pacific Spanish Institute for 4 weeks in early 2021. I have a Spanish speaking mother so I had a decent base in Spanish entering into classes but I never studied the grammatical structure of Spanish. I needed something more advanced and these ladies without a doubt gave me my money’s worth. Within 4 weeks I understood the grammar of Spanish, was having deep and more complex conversations and felt more and more at home communicating with people every day in Ensenada. What I love about the school aside from the teachers being excellent at what they do, is they treat you like family and welcome you with open arms. They teach you about the culture and even taught me how to cook some Mexican dishes! Now that I am living in Ensenada full time, I plan on stopping by from time to time to say hello. I owe these ladies a lot, a big hug and thank you to the people at Pacific Spanish Institute!

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I just finished 6 weeks at this wonderful school. I'm honestly a little sad to be leaving and wish we could have done 3 months. I started with VERY little knowledge of Spanish while my husband was a bit more advanced. The teachers here are incredibly knowledgeable and experienced. As well as kind and patient. I really appreciated how much my teacher was able to adapt to my learning process (which is very visual) and was able to think of applicable examples for whatever she was trying to teach me. It was also very interactive. We had cooking classes, played games and went shopping. It honestly was so fun. Not only did I advance in my Spanish, I feel like I gained more family in the process. I am so grateful for this school and the experience. (As a side note we also found an incredible AirBnB that is very close to the school. It has a little patio to study at and a safe place to pull your car into. It is also very close to a cute coffee shop, Maria Luisa market, and Hogaza Hogaza where you can get fresh baked bread in the mornings. We highly recommend this place and the school! - Ask Maestra Lupita where we stayed and she’ll connect you.)

Experiencia fantástica: My wife and I just finished studying for 6 weeks with the Pacific Spanish Institute, and our experience was amazing! Lupita and Reina were excellent teachers, always patient and engaging. The classes offered are highly practical and conversational, and they adapted lessons to meet our individual interests and goals. We both improved tremendously in the time we were studying there. Whether your level is basic or or advanced, I would highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn Spanish.

Experiencia fantástica: I went to the school for weekend classes in June 2020. Parked at the border in San Diego and walked across. Took an ABC bus from Tijuana to Ensenada. The bust ticket was around $5.00 and the view of the Pacific ocean was amazing. "La Maestra" Lupita picked me up at the bus terminal, and there was an exam and interview to determine my level of spanish. Lupita later gave me a ride to my AirBNB. The two days of classes were tailored to my spanish level with "La maestra" Reyna. The lessons were amazing, both conversation and written. I think Lupita and Reyna are people that have a gift for great language teaching. I took an Uber to get from Ensenada back to Tijuana and that cost around $60. I was able to walk across the border back into the US with only around a 15 minute wait. My goal was to get past a "sticking point" in my learning the spanish language and the school exceeded my expectations. Immersion classes are really a great way to learn. I plan to attend the school 2 or 3 times per year for weekend classes. Gracias Lupita y Reyna, que tenga buen dia!

Experiencia fantástica: My husband and I have studied at Pacific Spanish Institute for 12 weeks and have four more to go. I knew no Spanish when I started and my husband only had basic Spanish from high school. We fell in love with school from the minute Lupita opened the door and greeted us with a hug. We were separated for the first two weeks, until I could come up to speed with my husband. From the third week, we have studied together. The teachers are very thorough and after just a few weeks, I was able to communicate in class, solely in Spanish. It was remarkable, but worth the hard work. Now after 12 weeks I feel confident reading and having conversations in the real world. We are now working on mastering grammar and improving fluency. In addition to class work , we generally have one field trip a week to museums, the Guadalupe wine country, a paella cook off or a cooking day in the cocina. It is full immersion of language and culture. We have met wonderful other students from around the world. Experiencia fantástica: We are from San Diego and are having an incredibly wonderful time at this school while living in Ensenada for 16 weeks. The owner and teachers are warm, caring, and friendly, and we have made incredible progress in our studies. The learning is intense, but they mix in field trips, cooking, etc., if you are interested in that. We could not be happier to have been welcomed into their “family.”

Experiencia fantástica: I had a FABULOUS experience last weekend at Pacific Spanish Institute! I am so glad I chose this school. I can't say enough about the thoughtfulness, care, attention and expertise the owners Lupita, Bibiana, and Blanca put into coordinating the program. I had two days of intensive Spanish immersion and made so much progress. My instructor, Bibiana, tailored my medical Spanish program to exactly what I most needed to focus on. The pace was just right for me, and I was able to absorb so much! My delightful host Blanca was so welcoming, caring, and has a lovely sense of humor; she made everything very comfortable. The meals were delicious, too! Lupita and Bibiana picked me up from the bus station in Ensenada, adding to a smooth and easy trip; I walked across the border from San Diego to Tijuana and took the ABC bus directly to Ensenada. Comfortable and hassle-free! I look forward to returning to Pacific Spanish Institute soon, and give the program my highest recommendation. UPDATE: I have since attended the school on two additional weekends, and just PASSED my Qualified Bilingual Staff exam in Spanish for Kaiser Permanente!! I know that the preparation and immersion I received at this incredible school fortified my fluency to the point that I was able to pass this very challenging exam! I will always be grateful to the Pacific Spanish Institute for their caring demeanor, consistent patience, and extraordinary instruction!!

Experiencia fantástica: Excellent place to learn Spanish, teachers are very kind, also the city is beautiful. You can learn Spanish at the same time you visit a wonderful city. Excelente Instituto para tomar clases de Español, los maestros son muy amables y atentos, ademas la ciudad es bellisima. Puedes aprender español al mismo tiempo que conoces una maravillosa cuidad.
